[Update] Riise seals Roma deal
Liverpool left-back John Arne Riise looks set to move away from the club after 7 years of service.
Roma are supposedly leading the race for the Norwegian, who has fallen out of favour with Rafael Benitez.
Riise’s departure will perhaps come as little surprise, given that many have been unhappy with his contribution and also the impending signing of Udinese left back, Andrea Dossena.
Speaking to VG, Riise said:
“At the moment, it’s 50-50 that I will change employer, but things might happen before the re-start in England,”
John finished 23rd in our Player of the Season vote, dropping five places from the previous season.
He will most likely be remembered for his horror own-goal against Chelsea in last year’s Champions’ League semi-final, however, that sweet left foot notched 31 goals in 347 games.
[Update]
The latest suggests that Riise has completed his move to Roma for £3.95m. John has signed a four year deal with the Italian club.
