George and Tom to become best friends
Liverpool owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks are slowly resolving their differences through that age-old healer, time.
Speaking to Fan590, a Canadian radio station, Gillett said; “It’s fair to say that communication between the Hicks and the Gilletts has been substantially improved and I believe that it will be for the benefit of the club,
Time is a healer and there were things that had happened previously. It took a while for both of us to realise that we weren’t communicating very well and the huge responsibility we have to the fans to do the right thing for the club”
The news should be positive for Liverpool fans as the verbal spats between the two have seen the club’s reputation slump to several new lows.
Whilst communication is admittedly improving between the Americans, Gillett did not wish to comment when quizzed, on whether he is still interested in selling his shares in the club; “I’m not going to comment on anything specifically.”
Gillett went on to say that they are focused on the upcoming transfer window and providing ‘adequate resources’ for manager Rafael Benitez’s title challenge.
Providing Rafa with the classic ‘transfer warchest’ and keeping quiet for several months may be ways of gaining the fan’s forgiveness. Although both are extremely unlikely, given the ‘credit crunch’.
