Liverpool sign Danish starlet

Liverpool have reportedly signed Danish Under-18 international Nikola Saric from Herfolge, for a fee reputed to be around £500,000.

The attacking midfielder-cum-striker made his first-team debut for Herfolge as a 16 year-old and has made three first-team appearances for the club, who finished fourth in the Danish league last season.

European heavyweights such as Barcelona, Spurs and, erm, Charlton were also interested in the youngster. Indeed, Juventus apparently had a deal in place for him last year, only for a knee injury to put an end to the Italians’ interest.

Saric has made clear his delight at joining the Reds: “I will train with the big names over there and there is time for me to develop at reserve level.”

Hopefully he’ll be one for the future, to go with Nemeth and Pacheco.
