Valencia has flair and is more of a goal threat, while Kuba is hard working and pacy. Both are good prospects. Rafa will ultimately make his decision based on the cash at hand. High time to part with the likes of Pennant, Voronin and Itandje if you ask me, provided someone is willing to cough up and take them.

Why buy Pennant for £6m when Villa signed Milner for £12 and he hasn’t even started a game yet…

if im not mistaken pennant has played for england the same amount of times as gareth barry so how does o’neill put 18mil on his head and only 6mil on pennant, it seems a vast difference to me. i know barry is a better player but is he 12mil better? i think liverpool should play hard ball with villa like o’neill did in the summer

I doubt anyone would want to cough up 6mill for Pennant. But he needs to be shipped out, and i`m sorry to say, so does Dirk Kuyt. He was less than convincing in yesterday`s derby, losing possession, lacking pace. Our right hand side was screaming for Babel the last 20 minutes. Keane was starting to click with Torres but instead of giving Keane the opportunity to grab a goal he withdrew him, bringing on Pennant and shifting Kuyt to the centre. Quite a defensive move if you ask me. Taking off Kuyt and bringing on Babel would be the right thing to do. But hey, who am I to talk? I`m just happy we won. But Pennant and Kuyt should be shipped out. We need quality. Ribery would be ideal!

I read that the Sheikh wants to own the club himself somewhere or other.

I just hope he gets his way…sooner rather than later as well.

If anyone actually knew anything they would realise that the above was/is a red herring. DIC are only one of many arms of dubai holdings. Instead of being one of their invesment projects we seem to have been moved up the pecking order and become a target for the big cheese himself. Just like the Godolphin stables, LFC will become privately owned by the Sheik.

If DIC bought the club it would have to guarantee profits due to the rules and regulations of the business. This would obviously make it impossible for a football club to compete with Chelsea and Man City. It would therefore be more of an advantage if Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum bought Liverpool personally because he would be able to spend what he wants.

Liverpools best player was difficult but one must give Reira credit had he played 90 minutes he may have been their best Skrtel i thought was good as was MASH and Alonso.

Fantastic game and a fantastic result but just a point I’d like to make about Kuyt and the midfield.

Firstly Kuyt, I’m not sure he’d get my vote as man of the match. He had his usual hard working and lung busting game but this match highlighted exactly Dirks problems. 2 fantstic chances fell to him and he didn’t take either of them, and that unfotunately sums up Dirk Kuyt.

It’s got nothing to do with him not playing up front for a while either, the reason he has been farmed out to the right wing is because of his lack of goals as a striker.

He did a good job, but I think the midfield had a better balance as an attacking force as a result of Kuyt not being there, he’s no right winger and Rafa is picking him for his workrate rather than his ability IMO. Kuyt is useful player to bring in and do a job but when Torres is fully fit I wouldn’t have Kuyt in my starting 11 as he just doesn’t offer enough quality or creativity in midfield.

I was really impressed with the midfield as a unit, I thought we looked creative and caused utd problems all afternoon, Riera looks a good player and gave a good account of himself in what is a hard game to make your debut in. I think it might be interesting to see what happens with both babel and Riera in the same team, babel is right footed after all.
